We decided to see the New Year in with our friends in Cornwall, returning to the ever lovely Padstow.
Padstow is a fair distance from us so we broke the journey up with a stop in Salisbury. The council allowed overnight parking for motorhomes at their car park by Churchill Gardens.
What a delight! The location was fantastic- in view of Salisbury cathedral and opposite a beautiful park.

View from Salisbury "aire". Hard to believe this is walking distance from the city

Maurice basking in the morning sun. It was a frosty start to the morning!

We were joined by another motorhome which left promptly at 8am
We found it very difficult to find an open site in the Padstow are. Our first choice was booked solid and although we tried hard to find a CL "Certified Location" we were either too large for the pitch, they were closed for the period or they didn't allow motorhomes.
So, we found ourselves at Atlantic Bays Holiday Park. I am not sure whether it was the time of year, but it felt very baron and bleak.
If I found myself back in the area and it was the only place open, then I would use it, but it would not be my first choice.
The staff were extremely friendly and we enjoyed spending time with our friends who had rented a cottage nearby.
It was a very cold trip with temperatures dipping below freezing most nights. The onboard heating worked extremely well, coupled with a small oil filled radiator in the cab area. We used our Taylor Made screen protector to keep the front windscreen covered- you lost so much
heat through that huge front slab of glass!
This is our third trip to Cornwall in 2016 and I think we've covered enough of what we want to see for a while now.
I'll leave you with some pictures to enjoy

The ever pretty Padstow Harbour- home of many of Rick Stein's enterprises.

We stopped at the Old Custom House in Padstow for lunch. The burger was good but the people watching was the highlight!

On our way to Cornwall- a rather frosty morning

Good morning Wiltshire!

The Christmas lights in Truro

Truro Cathedral
We stayed at Atlantic Bays Caravan Site.
