Beautiful Bouchemaine

We definitely have a soft spot for Bouchemaine, a gorgeous village on the Loire. We first visited in 2014 with our friends Robyn, Dave, Pete & Jill. We were looking for an overnight stop on our way to Paris after our group had separated for a week before meeting again in the French capital.
The others had already booked into a site in Airvault and we chose Bouchemaine from our Aires book. After I had posted our obligatory motorhome view picture on Facebook, they soon changed their plans and decided to join us in our little paradise.
We couldn't have imagined our luck when we pulled into this beautiful site with large shady pitches within a stones throw of the river.
Eight kilometres from the thriving university city of Angers, Bouchemaine is a popular destination for cyclists who make the journey alongside the river on the fabulously flat cycle path. Restaurant Le Noe, with a busy bar and seating outside overlooking the river, is the first port of call.
We enjoyed some fantastic cycling - with my new electric bicycle which I am in love with! One morning we cycled to the tiny village of Le Pointe, which consisted of a bar tabac overlooking the river. The heavens opened and we sought refuge under a bridge.
We then cycled to Angers through the park and along the riverside, a journey we made in 2016 when we returned with Robyn and Dave.
During our time at Bouchemaine, we decided to tile our bathroom and kitchen splash backs, courtesy of self adhesive tiles from our new favourite shop Centrakor! We are really pleased with the results and it makes it feel a little more like home ... which it is for now.
The weather ranged from mid to late twenties and we ate outside, cooked some really nice healthy meals and John even cut my hair one evening, which was an experience for both of us.
Because of other plans we had to move on from Bouchemaine, but had we not we would probably have stayed a week or so longer.
The bonuses of the aire there are showers for which you are allotted 10 minutes of hot water per person. John and I split this into 5 minute showers each which sufficed!
We also caught up with laundry, which seems to happen on a weekly cycle. Different to being at home and being able to do loads as regularly as you wish! We actually have enough clothes for two weeks at a time but seem to cycle through our favourite "go to" outfits.
Once again we have enjoyed our time in Bouchemaine, however short, but will be returning one day, we are sure.
